Drawings and models are the medium of passing the views and concepts of an architect or designer into reality. Considering the detailing and complexity of a project, different types of drawings are issued by an architect for the easy understanding and smooth working of the construction process or for presentation purposes. But drawings/ models are also done during the process of design and thus these visual communication skills also become a thinking tool not just a representation tool.

Architects and designers produce these drawings when designing and developing an architectural project into a meaningful proposal. They have many uses and purposes that include; communication, presentation, information, instruction and record.

This project looked into the idea of exploring various types of drawings and models at various stages of design. Examples of spaces of a variety of scales were taken from literature and movies and studied. Places such as Diagon alley from Harry Potter stories, Houses from Peter Pan, Palaces from various mythological narratives and many more were considered. The objective of the exercise was to explore various types of communication techniques to imagine, develop and finally detail these spaces that are just described in words as someone’s imagination.
